Why Maine Coon size is hard to picture

Shoulder height for cats (and dogs on the chart)
For cats and dogs we use shoulder height—the top of the shoulder with all four feet on the ground. That is not the same as a cat stretching up on hind legs, which can look much taller in photos.
We also show typical body length and mid-range adult weight. Savannahs often stand taller at the shoulder than Maine Coons while Maine Coons can look heavier and longer-bodied.
